This Donor's Choose project is for the Fiesta Bowl Wishes for Teachers grant that I have been awarded. These materials will be used for hundreds of students in my elementary Art classes, and will be featured at the schools' Celebration of Learning events.
The items I am asking for cover a variety of projects for all grade levels. For example, in one STEAM-based project, all students will create a black light project where they will use neon art supplies under a black light. These will be ocean themed or outer space themed, and will focus on tying science to art. Another project is the Kindness project that ties in social emotional learning. Students will use general art supplies, such as tempera cake paints or clay and glazes, to create artwork that show cases their diversity and strengths. These will all be displayed for our culminating Celebration of the Arts.
I am also asking for a GoPro camera, mount, and speakers for my classroom. I have found that the most effective way to teach art practices to my students in a short amount of time is by creating time-lapse demonstrations in a video format. A Go Pro camera will allow me to record lengthy demonstrations, edit them to a quickly viewable demo for class use, and to be able to show the demo again when needed. I need the speakers because I have large classes and my current speakers are not loud enough for all of my students to hear the directions clearly.
I teach around 1200 students per between multiple schools, and these materials and equipment will help me to inspire and enrich the education of so many!
