Students feel empowered when they can have choice & control over things in their classroom. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they can work comfortably and take responsibility of their learning.
An uncomfortable student is distracted and unproductive, but when a student is comfortable they are more engaged and ready to learn. After months of virtual learning and shortened days due to COVID, they are not able to remain seated at a metal desk and chair for an entire school day.
Children need to move, especially my students! Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, or bounce while learning. Movement increases oxygen flow to the brain and helps keep their minds more alert and focused.
