I teach students in the library and our library space is a welcome break from the rigid classroom furniture they are used to. When they come to library to learn, they can relax and feel like they are at home. It is a welcoming environment with welcoming furniture. This makes students want to stay, feel good about collaborating, and feel good about staying at school.
They are happier overall because their basic needs are being met, allowing for their brains to function at a higher level. This furniture has a bigger impact than people realize. Happy students make happy learning. No one is happy sitting in a hard, small plastic chair for hours on end everyday.
