After a long year of distance education and the lack of social interactions with other peers I’ve been brainstorming ways my students can engage naturally in true kid manners. Then, it hit me...learning through play. Learning through play is a way my students can become engaged in social interactions. My plan is to create fun interactive centers that are inclusive of all my students. The materials on the list will facilitate these social opportunities.
Our centers will support standards such as SS.K.11 by exploring strategies to resolve conflicts and standard K.SL.1 by participating in collaborative discussions with diverse partners about activities that are engaging in. While items like Magna-tiles and car-expansion will spark their creativity, the translucent letter builder will be benefit their pre-writing skills on our class light panel. Other items on the list like the refrigerator will help complete our socio dramatic center where students can use their imagination to tell of another place and time. With your supports my students will be able to work on standards like SS.K.1 by exploring how to work and learn together to build a classroom community. Skills such as problem solving, working and communicating with each other are vital for our students so they can learn to share, socialize and interact with others, get along with peers, and learn about their feelings.
