During the pandemic my students continued to receive speech and language services via online learning. Although we delivered services in real time via the computer, my students did not get the hands on manipulatives necessary to make language skills concrete. This includes learning vocabulary, categorizing, retelling a story and answering wh questions which are addressed in the content standards (L. K1d, L.K5a, L.K. 1b, L.K. 4, SL.1.2, SL. 1.6, SL. 1.3, SL.2.4, SL 2.6). These skills are necessary to build relationships with peers and teachers and to be able to access the school wide curriculum. Language skills are utilized throughout the school day and with the help of these materials my students will be able to get a clearer understanding of the skills they need to learn in order to be able to participate fully in their classroom curriculum.
