Students will engage in the hands-on task of dissecting Owl Pellets to examine what their diets include based on where they live. This is an extension to our Life Science unit that includes learning about habitats, ecosystems, environments, biodiversity, pollution and conservation.
This activity provides enrichment as scholars gain first-hand experience about how scientists conduct research and analyze data to inform decisions. Students will incorporate their math skills (measurement & data) as they collect, compare, and analyze information based on what they find in each Owl Pellet. It is also a great way for students to demonstrate their knowledge about ecosystems and biodiversity, and how human activity & interactions can impact all forms of life in our communities and our world at large.
