My students walk into the Art room and literally take a deep breath. The Art Room is where they can decompress, connect and express themselves. They spend our 50 minute class period exploring different cultures, communicating their ideas, and connecting to each other and the world. In other words, Social Emotional Learning through Art. With this year's limited budget we have had to be creative with recycled materials and homemade paint recipes, which has been fun. But I would like to give my students the opportunity to explore serious painting materials to extend their skills and expand their learning.
In the Pandemic, Social and Emotional Learning has become an essential component of educating the whole child, and the Arts are an amazing vehicle for SEL. In our classroom, the students are able to use the Arts as a tool to recover and survive from the stress and concerns of our current world. This project would also help students to learn Financial Literacy. Students will earn Panther Bucks to "purchase" their own marker and paint set. My students would be so motivated by the opportunity to create on canvas with real paint and to have their own set of markers. We are ready to take our skills to the next level and our school's lack of supplies should not get in the way. Please help my talented artists take their skills to the next level. Thank you for your consideration!
