I work with students grades 9-12 across all aspects of the learning spectrum. As an elective teacher, my students come to me to focus on learning more about what they may be interested in for the future. They choose to take my classes as a choice to investigate their future career. My classroom is every-changing; tables and chairs are constantly relocated and student groupings are often modified. This is to teach students about collaboration and teamwork, and ultimately to inspire problem solving. We work to have real-life experiences like mock trials, career interviews with community members, and "Shark Tank-like" product pitches. We also go on field trips and invite speakers into our classroom.
The more connected my curriculum is to real-life, the more engaged and excited my students are. Environment is crucial to my students and my way of instructing.
