As a Literacy Lab reading interventionist, I service 65 students who are well below basic in reading at the K-5 level. Due to the low levels in income and language proficiency of our families, our school is a Title 1 "high priority" school in which all students receive free breakfast, lunch, and supper daily. Still, despite these challenges, my students work hard daily to build their foundational reading skills, as they strive to "catch up" in their literacy skills.
Since the start of the Intervention Program, data has shown exciting student progress in reading, but my intervention program is in great need of additional resources to give students a boost. Your funding assistance will help make our learning engaging and productive, ultimately resulting in growth in academic and social emotional learning.
