These resources will allow my students to engage in lifelong and meaningful lessons and training in order to achieve independence in their home setting. COVID-19 has disrupted the normal training process for these independent living skills, and the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ program will provide the materials necessary for students to learn, reinforce, and recover those lifelong skills needed for a healthy and positive outcome. My students will learn how to engage in self-help tasks and to become self-reliant. In addition, students will practice these skills daily and be able to demonstrate the ability to follow directions and to exercise self-care. Standards for materials and supplies include the following: To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of self-help skills. [NS: 1.1-1.15] To demonstrate lifelong learning skills by continually acquiring new information and improving skills. [NS: 1.2] To demonstrate effective speaking and listening skills by communicating effectively with students, customers, and employees and following directions. [NS: 1.2] Specific tasks will include the use of various home appliances, namely a microwave, coffee maker and vacuum cleaner. Recipes, cleaning chores, list-making, and time management are all relevant functional skills that will be addressed through the use of these funds.
