My students are learning functional academics, life skills, and vocational skills that will create independence and help each one gain and maintain meaningful employment after high school. We need calculators to practice adding and subtracting amounts from stores, restaurants, and retail outlets. We use various technology to model problem solving and show videos about various career opportunities. Weekly, the class reads about current events and then answers comprehension questions and performs various activities to show understanding about the things they have learned. Teachers and staff frequently purchase materials out of their pocket for the students.
