These novels will help students achieve mastery of their English 11 standards in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Holding the book in their hands is much more engaging than reading from a screen. The specific standards covered will be: RL.11-12.1, RL.11-12.2, W.11-12.1, W.11-12.1a, W.11-12.2, W.11-12.2a, W.11-12.4, W.11-12.5, W.11-12.9, SL.11-12.1, L.11-12.1 . With our year of distance learning, a gap in learning has become evident in student skills overall. Using a classic American Literature text that is written in relatively short chapters should be engaging and manageable for students. This novel will allow further development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
