I graduated from Colby College and decided to join Teach for America. I think one of the greatest things that happened to me as a kid in middle school was a teacher/ Debate Coach who saw the potential in me, and lead me to where I am today.
As someone who definitely feels lucky to have ended up in places where I found people who helped me with resources, I WANT to become that resource for my students. I teach at a Title I school, and I am teaching STEM & Robotics to kids who have a tons of potential, but lack the resources. Recently, I discovered a passion of my kids to code, but they cannot access a lot of those software and apps on Chromebook which are otherwise needed for me to give them hands on experience.
In upcoming weeks I plan to get my kids started on Python, but they do not have access to apps that will allow them to practice those skills. I am starting this page in hope of raising enough to get around 3-4 iPads, so all my kids can have access to the tools that will help them get a head start in STEM. I also can only hope that a lot of my kids will end up in the fields they consider to be "so hard."
I see the potential, but I need your help to empower them by showing them the potential THEY HAVE.
Thank you for all the help in advance.
