Students love to take ownership for their learning but unfortunately don't always have the tools to do so. A large component of our new Math curriculum entails students practicing their newly acquired skills online. Sadly, there's not enough time in the school day for every student to get the practice they need. Families are always eager to support their children in their learning but in this day and age, pencil and paper is not always sufficient.
As a teacher in a Title One school in an diversified urban area, technology resources are often limited. Our families just don't have the funds to supply their child or even their family with a computer. The Chromebooks I am requesting would provide each of my First and Second graders in Math intervention the opportunity to get back on grade level. Everyone of these students is testing on a Kindergarten level. Their educational future looks bleak if they are not able access the tools they need to catch up and excel. Please help me help them by giving them the gift of online access. Their time is now!
