Now more than ever it is essential for me to incorporate technology into my Algebra 2 lessons. I'm responsible for teaching students in-person at school and students at home on quarantine. Having an iPad would allow me to interact with my students at home while also interacting with my in-person students at school. It's difficult for students to teach themselves Algebra 2, and if they miss two weeks of my class, they always return feeling extremely behind.
Additionally, interactive lessons require the engagement of students, which results in positive learning outcomes. Having an iPad would allow my students to be more involved in class because it has the capability of mirroring on a Clear Touch board. I can hand students the iPad, and they can explain a problem to the class. I can also pull student work up on the iPad to show multiple ways of solving a problem, or I can write directly on the work for immediate feedback.
Having an iPad in my classroom will open the door to many instructional strategies I have not been able to tap into yet. As of right now, I'm using a document camera, which forces me to be at the front of the room. I want to interact with my students as much as possible, and an iPad will allow me to do just that.
