Help me promote independence beyond the classroom by building on student strengths. Through collaboration with the Life skills teacher, I will set up centers for the students to engage in prevocational tasks within their classroom, on a daily basis. This opportunity will promote their independence and confidence, as they use their eye hand coordination skills to complete clerical work with a paper shredder, paper sorter and color coordinated envelopes and cards. They will have opportunities to learn house hold skills and independence, including folding and sorting laundry, table setting and assembling self care kits.
These prevocational opportunities will breed positive feelings and confidence in the students' abilities to succeed with self care and work related tasks.
