I am requesting a classroom collection of Crayola markers for my students to use for all kinds of activities when they visit the library media center. My library is busy all day and the students enjoy using the markers for projects such as making posters and writing activities. The creation station area is a popular place and used by the students every single day. During this especially stressful time, they find art work to be be very peaceful and calming. I strongly feel that art work is beneficial for their social and emotional well being right now.
Our current collection of markers has seen better days. Many are dried out and the color selection is very limited. Something as simple as a brand new marker is a big deal to my students! They love having new markers that have bright, rich ink at the start of the school year, and I would like to keep that excitement going throughout the school year. I know that they will be very excited to have new markers and to use them for this school year's projects.
Additionally, many of my students do not have markers at home and it is a treat for them to use them at school. It really is the little things in life and all children deserve to experience the simple pleasure of a brand new set of markers!
