These materials will enable my students to practice their writing skills in a fun way. We have students with specific physical and sensory needs, and most of them need extra support with learning how to grip a writing utensil and starting the motion for writing. Some of our students are tracing letters with their fingers, and others are learning how to pinch and grip.
My hope is that we can use these manipulatives to make learning seem more like a game and not a chore. Our students could use these items to assist in completing their IEP goals for writing, sorting, sequencing, and social skills.
We are also practicing color sorting and taking turns building things together with Magna-tiles.
