These materials will help enhance the recreational time my students have during the after-school program. A lot of my students struggle financially. This program provides them with a safe place to grow academically and gives them something fun to do. Once a week the students complete science experiments or STEM activities. They learn about static, finger printing, and even make things like slime.
My kids truly enjoy learning and working together. For many of my students, this is the highlight of their day. Many families in my district struggle financially. This means that free program like this is their child's only source of an organized activities. We try and provide as much for the kids as we can in our 2.5-hour block. There is classroom time where the teachers focus on skills and academic material for that grade level, STEM activities, arts and crafts, gym, and snack time.
