Students love books. Physical books. They love opening them, smelling them, reading them and sharing them. At our high school, our ninth graders learn what creates one's identity through the novel "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie. Our students are missing out on that enjoyment though.
Without physical copies of the text, our students read from PDFs assigned through google classroom, and they miss out on the ability to fall in love with the physical copy of the story. By funding this project, it will provide ninth grade students at our high school with books to read during class. They can enjoy that feeling of opening a book for the first time, flipping through the pages and enjoying what they read.
