We created a framework of a wellness room based on the Zone's of Regulation. This model is dedicated to helping students simplify how they think about and manage their emotional states. After the unstructured time spent learning at home during the Covid-19 pandemic, students need to relearn how to be a student in the classroom and this starts with managing their emotions.
Work in the Wellness Room will help soothe students’ nervous systems and diffuse the excess energy that leads to students feeling out of control, and thus unable to focus and learn.
We are in need of additional resources for the room to serve as tools for the students to self soothe. These tools will help students to reset and return to the classroom ready to learn.
