As an ELA teacher, I am constantly looking for ways to get students hooked on reading. Unfortunately, in ELA we spend most of our time completing district mandated tasks and preparing for standardized testing. This semester, with the support of my principal, I am teaching a Harry Potter enrichment class for 26 of our 6th grade students. My goal is to get students to excited about a book series that they can read both in the classroom and outside of it. Right now, we only have access to a pdf of the book, which the majority of my students can only access at school when they have their tablet. If each student had his or her own copy of the book, students could make annotations during class and take the book home with them to read at night.
