I am always looking for more ways to allow for cross curricular learning in my music classroom. I also want to provide resources to best include my limited mobility students in our often not-so-seemingly-adaptable environment. Sphero Specdrums are rings that combine computer science and music by playing a specific sound in reaction to color. We can use these rings to reinforce colors and patterns in kindergarten, give autonomy and confidence to students who cannot hold a mallet or recorder in their hands, and allow for infinite improvisation opportunities for my older students.
These rings will directly impact the learning and self expression of every child in my school. We have already had great success using Google projects like Chrome Music Lab in the music room. I am excited to see their creativity with a tactile device that combines technology, music, and the world around them.
