These materials will add opportunities for our kindergarten students to explore art and create unique expressions of how their little minds visualize and interpret their world. An art lab for our Little daVinci's has already been created, and our vision is to have our inquiring students create works of art based on the concepts and themes that they are learning about in science and evident in the outside world.
As students have returned from learning virtually for more than a year, it is important that they engage in art activities aimed at emphasizing and improving both academic and social-emotional learning. Currently, our students are learning about soil, seeds, and plants. We are planning on taking our students into our garden so that they can sit outside and draw different types of plants that they are studying. Since art is an expressive medium, it is the ideal conduit for our young daVinci's to both express themselves and de-stress in a safe, supportive and challenging enviroment .
Ultimately, we also will be displaying their artwork by creating a Gallery Walk of their masterpieces for parents and the school community to come on campus to view so that we can showcase our Little Artists in the Making.
