As a teacher in a rural district, I have students who walk through my door never having touched a hammer and nails. The materials from this project will be used by my students as they build projects like 3D shelves, bee houses, coat hanger shelves and tech deck ramps. Students will learn to be able to independently measure and cut wood, use coping saws for smaller cuts, to choose the appropriate sized nails and hammer them into the wood. These are skills that will translate into them being more independent adults and give them the opportunity for a great career!
My students are so excited to be doing woodworking - they are always asking when they will get to start. When I start a woodworking project, I get undivided attention. Having these tools means that all students will be able to work on their own projects at the same time. Otherwise, they will have to work on them in shifts, because we do not currently have enough tools for every student. Thank you for supporting my students’ efforts to learn how to be creative woodworkers!
