We have been donated many books to use for a classroom library, but we don't have any place to put them. These shelves will help us set up a library so students can have something on hand to read during class. With ready access to reading materials, students can choose books they actually want to read. When students choose what they're reading, they're much more likely to do it, and be engaged while doing so. Consistent, engaged reading is one of the best ways to teach literacy skills, so setting up a classroom library will help us to do more outside reading assignments, and help my students practice the critical reading skills they will need as they head out into the world.
