Due to limited resources, students often read on the internet, SmartBoard or watch videos of read alouds. The students have never had their own personal chapter books in school- let alone their own choice of which book they want to read!
Student choice will spark their interest in reading and book clubs will help broaden their thinking and socialization skills for reading and for life. Working in book clubs, students will discuss what they have been reading, predictions, and thoughts on characters. Students can also read specific parts of the book to their book club which will help build up their reading confidence and build an even more supportive community within our classroom.
