The biggest reason many of my students struggle to read during their time with me is related to being hungry, and on many occasions they need a healthy snack before we can begin our work together. Reading is a very important task that requires full brain power and the brain cannot function at its best when the basic need of hunger isn't met. These healthy snacks will give my students the brain fuel they need to be successful as they read and learn with me. I also want to encourage my students to eat healthy and choose better snacks to fuel the brain. These snacks will be a great alternative to sugary snacks.
