Giving our students the opportunity to observe caterpillars to butterflies is exciting! Our students enjoy listening to Non-Fiction text. Their curiosity awakens and they can't stop asking questions. Having the opportunity to watch the caterpillar go through the stages will inspire awareness and appreciation for the life cycle of a butterfly and the benefits that butterflies provide the earth. Besides learning academic vocabulary, the students will learn that butterflies help flowers pollinate, eat weedy plants, provide a food source for other animals and observe that butterflies beautify our earth with their bright colors. This project will create an unforgettable memory when they all gather together on the playground in the month of April for Earth Day and release the butterflies together!!
