Last year, my students learned about rainwater harvesting and created a rain garden in the 12,000 sq. ft. space adjacent to our classroom. We have managed to keep our plants alive and thriving through the hot summer in the desert. Now we are trying to add more touches to make the space even more beautiful and useable as an outdoor classroom and space to relax and practice self-care.
My students turned a barren lot into our own mini-paradise full of life - plants, birds, butterflies, and insects. We are so proud of our space and want to add furniture and other items like a hummingbird feeder and river rocks to take full advantage of the cooler temperatures spending time learning and relaxing in our garden.
