Our goal is to enhance the students' global understanding of different art mediums and help them express their creativity. We want to give them the opportunity to feel like true artists do, using different supplies and tools so they can share their imaginations and desires. Students will make between 8 and 10 gallery quality art pieces using the materials from this project. For example, students will use the clay to make a sculpture piece inspired by Rodin. In another piece students will use tempera paints and q-tips to create an art piece demonstrating pointillism like the artist, Seurat. In yet, another piece students will use watercolor paper and watercolor paints to create an impressionistic art piece similar to that of Monet's water lilies.
This project will help improve the lives of our students because it will make them critical thinkers by having them look at the world with new lenses. To culminate the project students will select their favorite art piece and use their words to communicate why the piece was their blue-ribbon piece. We can't wait to see how ART SMART the students become!
