Students will learn how to read note names, rhythms, and melodies through playing their recorders. It also sets them up to be successful in beginning band as they have a slight introduction to wind playing with the recorder. Students begin band in 5th grade, and these recorders would be used for 3-5th grade students. Playing recorder teaches students organization and gives them a certain level of responsibility. Students must remember their materials for each class (their recorder and lesson book), and remember to practice when they go home each night.
