My main priority to my kids is to teach them about opportunities. I do this primarily through independent reading, in hopes that they will find new worlds and possibilities for their futures. We do not have a school library, and our county library is 30 minutes away. I use books to encourage students to find themselves and their voices. Whether it is at school, on the bus, or at home, I want my kids to read what interests them. I want to give them an exciting selection to choose from.
