Books can be some of the best learning materials during these difficult times. We will use these books as an important part of our social studies curriculum, in writing mini lessons, and to better educate and inspire my 3rd grader readers at home through both fiction and nonfiction stories.
All teaching materials, books, and manipulatives will be used to create the most engaging lesson plans as possible to close the learning gaps I see in my class directly related to COVID-19.
The books on my list contain diverse characters, mostly focusing on Indigenous perspectives as part of 3rd grade social studies standards, overcoming challenges, making positive impacts on the world, and using their voices to make positive changes in the world.
