My classroom is filled with 19 brave little scholars, and it is my job, as their second grade teacher, to create a learning environment that encompasses adventure, wonder, and their interests.
It is so important to me to have a wide range of books for my class to enjoy, including books that can encourage positive relationships. I also want the students to feel they can add tools to their imaginary toolkit to help them as they go throughout their educational career.
I plan to use these books along with my book, The Ramped-Up Read Aloud, to teach memorable lessons that go along with the state standards. I chose these books because these are the books that Maria Walther suggest with the lesson ideas from her book. I have already taught a few of the lessons from this resource and it has increased engagement within my classroom and the kiddos have loved the picture books and continue to gravitate towards them!
