We are going to be adopting a pet in 1st grade! We can't wait to share with our pets how good we are getting at reading. Our pets are actually going to be stuffed animals that the students will keep at their desks and they can take them home on the weekends to read to for 20 minutes each day. Students will be filling out Adoption Applications for promising to take care of their pet by reading to it for 20 minutes each day. They will get certificates of adoption, and traveling cases to take them home in on the weekends. The book pouches will be used to hold the books the students get from the classroom library. These are the books the students will read to their new pets.
