In light of the fact that many of my students live in a "food desert" with limited access to fresh vegetables and/or chain grocery stores having a living community garden will provide students with the opportunities of connecting and reclaiming food production in a healthy and meaningful way.
Our students will be able to integrate math, science, and environmental justice through hands-on learning in our community garden! This is also a way to nurture inter-generational connections with many of their own elders who have experience and knowledge on how to cultivate community cultural wealth through farming and gardening.
