The HP 17.3" laptop will give my students an addtional tool to learn a free user-friendly screen reader, NVDA. NVDA is only compatible with Windows. We will teach individual students how to use NVDA and its related shortcut keys. Students will learn how to navigate around the internet, webpages, Zoom meetings, various documents, and forms. They will also learn how to use various shortcut keys to create documents and send emails. The possbilities are endless!
The laptop, along with the Windows compatible NVDA screen reader, will help our students now as they continue their educational pursuits beyond public education.
Because technology is used on a daily basis, especially in this ever changing world of Zoom meetings and remote learning, it is essential to teach my students how to navigate a variety of devices. For our students with visual impairments, it is important that they learn about the options available to them. This world has become technolocially savvy and my students with visual impairments must be ready.
