With more books to read at school, students can become more proficient readers. Many of the books requested are about a variety of different cultures. Students in my classes come from different backgrounds.
With this collection of books, my students can read about how others overcome their struggles in life. They can read about how to deal with trying to fit in at school.
Students can enjoy reading if they can read something of their own choosing. Having more books for them to choose from allows them to dream and better their current circumstances. They can connect with others in the class and have discussions about what they are reading.
