Flexible seating is a helpful tool that can help people of all ages focus. Not everyone can sit at a desk all day and focus to get their work done. Even I sometimes have to lay out on the floor to help me regain my focus. Flexible seating options like wobble chairs and crates can help my class focus their wiggles on the chair, which will free up their minds to focus on their assignments.
Giving students options in the classroom help them feel like they have control over their learning. When they feel like they have control and they are not constantly being told what to do, they can feel appreciated. Giving them options like which type of seating will they like to use for the day seems small to us as adults but can be a huge deal to them. Helping our students feel appreciated will also help them appreciate us in turn and help maintain their focus on their learning.
