Students will read selected graphic novels and books, such as The Unwanted: Stories of Syrian Refugees, in jigsaw groups to learn the stories of refugees and diverse people throughout the world. We will ask questions, summarize, and predict to build empathy and discuss ways to build community in our classroom. The books will be available for students to use in projects for the Refugee and Migration Strand of our World Geography course. Students will outline, map, and share the stories they read in presentations with the rest of the class.
