During several class sessions throughout each semester, students will use facts and information from various countries (or U.S. States) such as population, landmass/size, borders, language(s), geography, and flags to compete in the games. Using board games such as The World Game, Sweep the World, Word Teaser (Geography Edition), Chronology, Guess in 10 (world cities, world countries, and U.S. states editions) purchased with these resources, students will engage in competitive fun to enhance their knowledge and skills. I have selected a variety of games so that the students will have multiple options to add variety for differentiation and for novelty. Additionally, I have selected a classroom set of Tim Marshall's critically acclaimed book Power of Geography. As we engage in the text together as a class, students will make connections between the places we study and the events of the world. My goal is that students will gain knowledge and make connections in a fun and engaging way that will allow them to become true citizens of the world.
