Covid 19 has really brought a damper on students learning. When students need small group instruction it is difficult to keep their attention. Students will be affected socially and emotionally for the positives. Kids have been kept in quarantine and have suffered socially. Many of the items requested are group games or games where students need to work together to solve something. This will help them learn life long skills how to work with others who have differing opinions.
Academically, it is proven that kids learn better when they are engaged! A lot of my students struggle being engaged with ELA or difficult logic problems. They often give up and do not want to try. The items I have added are all very engaging for 4th graders. They can have fun without even realizing they are learning. Having these games as part of my centers will keep students engaged, having fun, and hopefully deepen their love for learning.
