In reading I have 5 different reading groups and each group has their own reading book each week. They work on learning new vocabulary, comprehension and reading with fluency. On Friday we test on our leveled book and vocabulary. The students are excited to test and see their grade. They are ready to test and it builds their confidence as readers because the books are on their level so all students can succeed and feel proud of themselves. The students get to feel successful at reading and get a prize for their hard work. This little extra motivates some of the students who need a little extra push. It also is a nice reward for the students who put in effort, work hard and have a desire to succeed. On Friday the students know if they did what they were suppposed to all week they will end up with a reward and be acknowledged in front of the class. These extra prizes/rewards will offer the students more variety and hopefully keep them motivated to continue to work hard to reach their goals.
