The mobile book holder I'm requesting would be a fantastic addition to our classroom. I have a huge selection of books that go, largely, unread each day because each of those books is stored on a book case. As adults, we know how to grab a book from a shelf, peruse it, determine if we want to read it and either take it or put it back--not so with 1st graders!
The spine of a book is completely unappealing to a 6 year old, and if a child doesn't take the book off the shelf, that book will never get read. I have a huge selection of books of all levels for my students to read, but many of them are intimidated by the rows and rows of spines staring at them from the book shelves. They want to see the cover, see the pictures and be drawn in just as the illustrator intended them to be.
I have no doubt that displaying books in this manner, especially after having read those books to my kids, will get books jumping right into their little hands!
