School is an amazing place. Most of a child's waking hours are spent at school. Children learn everything from science to mathematics. With so much time being spent at school it is difficult for students to sit at a desk all day long. Flexible seating is a way for students to have seating options. This is an empowering feeling for a student, however, it doesn't stop there. Flexible seating increases student engagement, productivity, and reduces anxiety.
Flexible seating helps a classroom become a home away from home. With flexible seating, students are able to wobble, rock, lean, and even bounce. By doing this, students are able to increase oxygen flow to the brain. This relieves anxiety and promotes more learning retention. Flexible seating creates collaboration and a sense of community. It becomes our classroom, not their desk. It helps students who struggle from ADD and ADHD, by giving them a sensory output. This gives students a feeling of confidence and freedom in their classroom.
As a teacher, I want to do all I can to make learning an enjoyable time for my students. Not only do I want them to make achievements academically I also want to be mindful of their emotional well-being. Join me in helping my students feel empowered by reducing anxiety and excelling academically.
