Our school is located in beautiful Southern Utah. My students are creative, curious and hard working. They inspire me to be better and try harder in everything I do. They work hard each day to overcome some of the major obstacles Covid-19 has caused in their educational career.
This group of students has been greatly affected by Covid-19 because they missed 3-4 months of in-person learning (some more) because of quarantine. I am working so hard as their teacher to get them caught up, but it is very difficult to make up that much time. They are severely behind and lack the skills of the typical 3rd graders I have taught in past years.
My students are highly motivated with small prizes. Because they spent so much time doing at home learning they sometimes have trouble staying motivated to stay on topic and learn new things when it gets hard. Brain breaks are much needed. The carpet would provide brain breaks reading picture books together. They love to draw and color and are so creative. I would to provide them the materials to do this more freely with. They work hard to earn small token prizes and when they do this they realize they can do hard things and continue to work hard. Small fidget toys really work well helping my students to stay on task. They are motivating and give them something to with the hands while learning. These really help with concentration.
My 3rd graders they are full of questions and they love to explore and investigate new ideas and concepts. As their teacher I encourage them to try new things and to take chances so they can grow both academically and personally. My goal is provide them with every opportunity I can to grow and learn!
