These past few years have been stressful for everyone, and our kiddos have felt it too. These items will help my students learn how to regulate tough emotions, learn about cause and effect, and utilize sensory breaks to regulate and calm their little bodies. The students in my class are on the autism spectrum and struggle to learn these skills as quickly as their typically-developing peers. My students seek sensory input from a variety of modalities - auditory, visual, vestibular, etc. Several of the items on this list will help my aides and I teach our students how to appropriately utilize sensory breaks and use them as independently as possible. Most children learn about physical cause and effect when they are toddlers. Due to their disabilities, our students take longer to understand and correctly use caise and effect toys. With more access to these types of toys, our students can practice this skill more frequently and thus have more access to their neurotypical peers through play. Thank you for supporting our class and our students!
