If my project is fully funded, I can buy class sets of books and other books that are newer, interesting, and have characters and situations dealing with struggles similar to what my students are struggling with. Having relevant books students can relate to more easily will help students become better readers, and it will help them WANT to read more. That is the most important thing I want my students to get out of my classroom: the desire to read and become life-long learners. Getting more books to have class sets, have literature circle books, and have optional individual reading books will help me help my students reach this goal.
