One of the best ways to cultivate students who are lifelong readers is to provide them with opportunities to read high-interest and student choice books.
This project focuses on compiling a diverse collection of high interest books, a menu of options for my students, with enough copies of each book for students to be able to read in their small groups. Small groups have allowed my students who often struggle in 9th grade with social changes, to feel the support of their friends and give support to each other while learning through example in listening and practiced reading.
